Shoulder Pain and Injury

Common Shoulder Injuries

  • Rotator Cuff Straininjury-shoulder
  • Rotator Cuff impingement
  • Dislocation
  • ACJ disorders
  • Adhesive Capsulitis
  • Referred pain from neck

The most common injury to the shoulder involves the rotator cuff muscles. These muscles/tendons provide movement and stability to our most unstable joint the shoulder. They work very hard to maintain shoulder stability and to achieve the incredible range of movement that the shoulder can achieve.

The rotator cuff muscles can be injured in a number of ways. Eg. Contact sports – falling onto the shoulder and most commonly by wear and tear or degeneration of the tendon, which can progress, to tears or rupture.

Physiotherapists are the leading experts in rehabilitation of shoulder musculotendinous injuries. Whether it is to return to sport or to increase your shoulder movement just to be able to hang your clothes on the line we are here to help.

Treatment modalities may include:-

  • Specialised shoulder joint mobilisation/massage
  • Strengthening programs to restore optimum joint movement
  • Postural advise
